March 2020 Newsletter: The Recovery Pump System
by Dr. Joshua Leuppie
Welcome to the month of March! This is the time of year when everyone across Western New York is beginning to get excited about the warmer months ahead. People begin planning trips, getting summer vacation details finalized, and we also tend to become more active as the temperature starts to increase. For someone us this means working outdoors in our gardens, going for walks, beginning a spring sport, or if you work outdoors this might be the start of your busy season. With all of this increased activity there is also a pretty good chance your body is going to feel fatigued; your feet and legs may start to ache as they get back into summer shape.
The RecoveryPump System (Rp) is a personal pneumatic compression systems designed to reduce fatigue, improve circulation, and to decrease the soreness/pain associated with increased activity.
Rp technology is used throughout professional sports to reduce the wear of travel and allow athletes to recover faster. However, the benefits of using the Rp are no longer just available to elite athletes!
Rp can be used to help everyone from the high school athlete, to the weekend warrior, all the way to the factory worker on their feet all day who can never seem to shake the ache in their knees and feet. If you are recovering from a surgical procedure ( meniscus tear, rotator cuff etc..), a sprained ankle, or are just feeling achy and tired. The Rp system uses specific modes and pressures that we can change to safely decrease swelling and bruising, while allowing the tissues to heal at an improved rate.
This is a tool to help get you back to doing the things you enjoy. If you are interested in scheduling, we will start taking appointments to use the RecoveryPump system beginning on Monday, March 14th, 2020, with treatment’s beginning on Monday, March 21st, 2020.
